Over on the real estate board we have been discussing investing for retirement and that naturally led to expenses in retirement, which led to 2 polls, one for the retired and one for those still working, asking what your retirement expense budget target is. It's split into 2 polls so we can see experienced-based data separate from planning numbers not grounded in actual personal experience.

We would love to have more responses from people on other boards so please click this link and respond. This link takes you to the retired persons' poll and if you are not retired yet, you just click next to get to the non-retired-person's poll.

The question is posed as "income" but we really mean "expense". What is your target total annual retirement expense budget in 2011 dollars, excluding income taxes, for 2 people living together, both retired?

So far it's looking like the mean is around $100k
