How much would you use a roasting pan--just for major holidays? If so, that inexpensive granite-ware pan looks like a great option. If you'd use it a lot (roast chicken, pork roasts, roasted vegetables all year round), you might get your moneysworth from a stainless roaster with sturdy rack. I got one in my 50s and wish I'd gotten it sooner. Since I got it, I roast more often.

Does your husband usually spend enough on your Christmas present(s) to cover a nice stainless roasting pan, and would you get a lot of use out of it? Some women hate getting practical gifts and feel it's unromantic. I prefer practical gifts myself. My father was in the kitchen gadget business, and I've spent a lot of time perusing and enjoying housewares since childhood.
