However I have always thought
the accepted criteria that a screen can't have a large number of rules is overemphasized. I don't mind
a lot rules if each rule is logical and by itself is profitable.

I also don't think highly of that criteria because certain concepts can be expressed in English very easily but take multiple comparisons to define. For example "dividends increasing steadily over the last five years" can easily be four rules - maybe more - in a backtester script. And if one adds "... but not faster than profits or revenues"....
