Hi,

A few days ago I received a check for a little over $20 as payment from a class action suit against Washington Mutual on behalf of investors.

Since I haven't held this stock in my portfolio for several years (so I can't subtract the payment from any cost basis), how do I report this payment on my 2013 tax filing?

Thanks & best regards,
Bernhard

Form 8949 as a long-term cap gain, no 1099-B received.
