I agree that Macromedia has several high profile graphic products currently available. However its market cap is around 4.2B, which falls somewhat short of the 5B Rule Maker standard.

I don't have figures available about the install base of Shockwave or Flash, but according to MediaMetrix, macromedia.com had 5.3 million visitors during February 2000, good enough for 34th place. This is certainly notable, and many people probably already have the plugin installed, but this is just a fraction of the 74 million total visitors tracked that month. Flash is great for certain things, but I'm not convinced it is or will ever be the bread-and-butter of the web. Perhaps my perspective is colored by my involvement in b2b and b2c ecommerce rather than online multimedia and games.
