I agree. The 11% dividend is very tempting.After Dow aquired Union Carbide around 2000-2002, there was the large downturn in the economy and Dow continued to pay out the dividend even then. I'm 99% certain they had to take out loans to pay for the dividends, but they made sure they paid them.I've read some articles with people talking about the possibility of Dow cutting the dividend if they hit more financial trouble, but they are VERY proud of the fact that they've consistently paid a dividend. It is unfortunate that the Kuwait joint venture fell through, but Dow is in a better financial position than they were in 2000-2002 so it doesn't seem likely right now that they would cut their dividend.From the announcement for the most recent payout with an ex-div date of 12/31/08."This is the 389th consecutive cash dividend issued by Dow. Since 1912, Dow has paid its shareholders cash dividends every quarter and has either maintained or increased the quarterly dividend amount throughout that time."... very tempting.
