I agree with ToddTruby in that changing the oil twice a year to get the car looked over makes sense. Even at 10,000 mile intervals that is not a full year of driving for most when the US average is closer to 15k.
Obviously, your actual mileage matters the most.
Hopefully you are still checking tires, and fluid levels a lot more often than the oil gets changed.
