I agree with you about McClendon. CHK and XTO are 2 of the major drillers in the Barnett Shale, where I live, and XTO is headquartered here in Fort Worth. I have happily owned XTO for several years and watched them quietly go about the business of making money (except for the Current Unpleasantness). CHK has been a pain for many in this area as they try to muscle their way through the leasing process. I don't have a personal axe to grind, but there is much in the newspaper about their antics. I am much more comfortable with the XTO management, who stay mostly out of the limelight. Drillers are a wild bunch, infected with that wildcat fever, but if I had to choose based solely on management I would go with XTO without question.

A very subjective assessment, I realize.
