I am afraid this is a new tactic they use. I had the same deal WITH a credit union, it popped on; I disputed it- it came off- then it and a 2nd old debt popped back on. Why the heck should you have to prove you are innocent? Why? They know darned well what they are doing. Computer errors in the past have sometimes been in my favor- however not anymore. It is a trend.Unless you are going to buy a house- a blotch on credit can be good. As it makes it hard for someone to steal you. So you get free ID theft protection... for FREE! Another company could charge you for this "service". Gag me.
