I am becoming more and more fond of going over the fiscal cliff.

As I see it, the biggest threat to the US is that we never really do anything. I think this is one of those rare moments when inaction and gridlock will produce a good effect (serious deficit reduction).

Yes, we will probably go into a recession in the short run. But the logjam will have been dynamited and our political minds will be freed up.

Seems like a win/win to me. The President get to say he raised taxes on the rich, the congress gets to cut taxes on the middle class in the spring and add money back into the military, the president gets to add money back into the social programs and everybody it happy.
