I am getting a new computer with Win7 Pro.

I do not see how you can get one with such an old OS. I would think you would have to work at it to even get one with Windows 7, though I know that can be done.

But as to ink replacements, I have used only two brands of printers. Hewlett-Packard and Epson.

Most of the HP printers have integrated ink cartridges and ink spraying nozzles, so if the ink is defective and permanently clogs the nozzles, you replace the cartridges and you are on your way. (This is not true of ALL HP printers, however.)

The Epson printer I had had the nozzles built into the printer and if you clogged those, you needed a new printer.

Also, in my experience, the HP printers lasted longer (5 to 10 years for me), where the (more expensive) Epson printer lasted onl about three years when the gears started losing teeth.

My current HP OfficeJet Pro 8100 uses Epson-style ink cartridges, so I will not dare use non-HP inks in it.

I suggest getting the kind of HP printer that uses their old-style ink cartridges with integrated into the cartridge nozzles. They buy remanufactured ink cartridges for it.

But I am only on my fourth printer since 1996, so my results are not statistically significant.
