I am looking for one of these platform base frames like this (the one on Target) because I like to use the space underneath for storage and I also don't have a box spring, only the mattress itself.

College students often used raised platforms to get additional storage under beds. In some place like my daughter's school, housing supplies the platforms. In other locations, it could be that the students supply their own. You could ask around the local schools to see if students buy their own. If they do, you may find some students selling them at the end of each semester.
