I am not going to tell you that Arkansas is a really great place to live like Eugene Oregon or Boulder Colorado. Approach your search like you would an investment. You don't want to buy the same over-hyped, over-priced stock that everyone else is buying. You want to find the overlooked place with opportunities for growth.
So I jumped from Portland OR to Little Rock, AR. And it is clear 19 years later that if I had stayed in Portland, I would be making a decent living doing approximately what I was doing 19 years ago because there is a lot of competition for jobs like mine and none of my bosses have moved on or left.
Well Arkansas is the "Land of Opportunity" which means that it sucks enough that outsiders with some skill are welcomed, embraced, and promoted. Look at Vic Snyder (native of Oregon, now US Rep for Central Arkansas). And it happened to me.
It is important that I feel like I am making some sort of contribution to society. If you feel the same, tour Fayetteville and then keep driving south and east. There will find room to grow and expand in your profession.
