I am reluctant to post details. But your list of questions helps me focus on what I should be looking at. The annuity invests in mutual funds which are themselves OK, but there is an additional fee imposed by the annuity. There is no redemption fee. The thing that convinces me to keep the annuity is that there will be a significant tax hit if she redeems it.
