I assume you have cell phones (please correct me if I'm wrong), and do you have enough minutes to support the local calls with them as well? If so, have you considered the charger-handsets that incorporate the bluetooth pairing so that all the handsets in the house ring when the paired-cell gets an incoming call? That way you can get rid of the landline but still have the convenience of having the phone ring with the same kind of handset you're used to.
