I assume you mean the OBD II system. Why do you want to turn it off? Ignoring the error codes is not going to make the problem go away. Also some states use it as an emissions inspection tool. Here in NC, they've eliminated tailpipe emissions tests for reading OBD codes. Circumventing the system could probably get the car owner in trouble. I would check your state regulations.
