I believe the interview was hashed over quite well 2 or 3 months ago. It seemed familiar, but I saw no date and did not read the whole thing, but I don't think they would have done two so-similar interviews as close together.

"Ken says that Microsoft is more reliable than Linux and that the field of computer science has reached a zenith."

Ken is also promoting his own OS's (Inferno and Plan 9, I believe), at the expense of every other OS, be it unix, linux, or windows variants. He basically thrashed everything he didn't make. I respect what he's done, but Thompson's pretty baked in his old age.

"He predicts that biology will be the next hot field and research in computer science will (or has) stagnate(d)."

Strange. I find more and more people approaching me about new fields of computer science daily. Not to say Biology can't be hot, but comp sci is far from over.

"comments?"

He's a crotchety old man. My Dad, who sold VAXen when they were hot, thinks he's just grumpy and needs more geritol. How old is the coot anyway? I realize he's not that old, but he sure as hell is acting like it. Give him a cane and I bet he'd beat your ass for stepping on his property ;)
