I can just imagine how much effort a shop steward would spend investigating complaints by a non-member of tricks played on him, like his lunch box being stolen, or filled with poop.

That should make new workers really appreciate the union folks.

Nonetheless, fear of encounters in dark alleys can also motivate a person to take action to protect themselves.

Maybe the union shops won't see any fall in membership percentages after all.
