I can see the universal ban squeaking by, though I don't agree with it. It's the least egregious of the proposals though, and is unenforcable in the most objectionable cases. Long guns aren't registered in Michigan, so if I were to give my son one in 20 years there'd be no way for the government to know I had done it, let alone that I didn't bother with the useless background check they want me to perform to find out something I already know better than the state does.Better record keeping for mental illness is fine, provided that they aren't taking away people's rights without some sort of appeal process (if someone says you're crazy that doesn't mean you are/always will be, innocent until proven guilty has to be part of the system if we're talking about taking away rights).I don't see a magazine limit passing either. Hoplophobes get all excited about it but sports shooters and those who have been in self-defense situations know better, and have been bending the ears of their congress critters like mad to let them know it.
