I can see why someone would turn to atheism considering the hypocrisy and dis-information from Christian leaders and their followers.

People don't "turn to" Atheism.
They are atheists because they think.
When they think, they ask questions.
When they ask questions in hope of finding honest answers with a basis in reality, they begin to see that Christianity (and other religions with "gods") simply don't make any sense.
In fact most, like Christianity, are so twisted up with impossibilities that they are easy to discard.

Hypocrisy and disinformation from Christian leaders and their followers could make someone disdainful of those people, but wouldn't necessarily make them "turn to" Atheism. I don't think one actually "becomes" an Atheist through any kind of choice. You just one day come to the realization that that is what you are. It isn't as though you set out on some journey to become one.
