I can understand why a stinker deal like ZIP makes you mad. An LA lawyer is already exploring a suit based on the premise the management did not do effective due diligence in shopping the company before sale to AVIS. At least he will make money, and I'm holding a while to see what happens - but keeping my eyes open.As for quality of The Fools advice and picks, I don't spend hours a day pouring over the stocks, and I'm sure if I did plus drawing on the community of fools, I'd do much better but I have a life to live. About 95% of my picks are drawn carefully from one or more of the Fool services, the rest are my choice. Looking today, I've turned about 36% over the last 3 years, nothing to crow about to you guys that work it every day all day, but 10-12%/yr return isn't bad at all. If I'd followed the advice earlier, or joined earlier with the same picks my numbers would be much nicer. Looking over my scorecard I only see 6 of 35 in the red, the worst about (48%) and they are the speculative ones I got into with my eyes wide open, either a little late or haven't held long enough, or external factors screwed it up (ZIP, EXEL, DLB, DVN, INFIN, LM). Of those 6 a couple have been moving well lately. Then I have 4 with greater than 100% return, another near that, and 2 others that have been there and will likely be there again (AAPL and Netflix).I can say The Fools helped me.
