I casually went along with certain terms that I've been hearing of, like CMO or CDO or SIV or this whole alphabet soup of this credit crunch.

I had only a vague idea of what CMO is, until I read your post. I had never heard the terms CDO or SIV. While I was searching, I was also listening to Street Signs on CNBC. On the Stop Trading segment, Jim Cramer was talking about, and reading snippets from, a report that was written by the CEO of Wells Fargo. One line in particular that Cramer quoted caught my ear: "I never knew what SIV meant, until I read it in the Wall Street Journal."

So now I don't feel so bad about not knowing what these terms [things] meant.

Great post, BTW. I need to spend more time reading this board.
