I could see having that sort of argument with DH.

Hmmm... I couldn't...

And I've never heard of the Grocery Game. Don't think it would be something I could picture myself going for though. We also don't have a lot of room for "extras", and having to keep an emergency stash on hand for severe weather half the year gives us even less room. Plus, I just kind of get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about someone tracking my spending habits *anywhere* for any reason... It just feels so.... big brother...

DH and I have a strict understanding when it comes to me and shopping: I am not responsible for what follows me home when I shop. If DH wants any "control" over how I spend his money & on what, he needs to accompany me shopping -- otherwise, it's fair game. :)

This works really well for us, because he knows that I do very well shopping by myself (and that I would never abuse the policy to any extreme level). Generally, he gives me a ballpark idea of the amount of funds available for the shopping in question. And of course, sometimes the policy allows me to "tease" him into coming along for the trip (particularly when I am going to the craft store... :) ) and I always prefer the company.
