I did some more research and you're right -- Roku 3 won't do it. In fact, I'm wondering a bit why folks buy it since so many devices now come with built in support for Hulu, Netflix, etc.

Well it supports, in most cases, many more streaming services than other devices (DVD players, Apple TV, etc.). I have most of those other devices and some support Amazon but others don't. Ditto for other services. The Roku (I think I have the Roku2) is the most cost efficient streaming device IMO.

My AppleTV device just collects dust at this point (doesn't support Amazon).

Also the apps for Roku generally are more functional than ones built into WiFi tvs and DVD players. On my smaller wifi ready tv the Amazon app doesn't even support a "Favorites List" which is very annoying.
