I didn't say it ruined my life. Just the afternoon.

Maybe I read too much into your "oh the humanity" comment. :-{)

I think it will be a long time before I describe a loss of 25 points as "a lousy 25 point drop". In my situation those 25 points could mean the difference between getting the job or not getting the job and getting the apartment or not getting the apartment.

Not knowing your situation, you could very well be right. I have seen scores drift up 50 points and more just by 6 months of "clean living" but if you are on a knife edge -- like maybe at a 620 score, I can see how the 25 point drop could be a precipice. You just didn't give me/us a lot to go on regarding how badly this score could affect you.

I reiterate that, absent not knowing precisely what affects the FICO (just as one doesn't know what physiological processes affect weight retention) the better, less stressful way to handle this is to simply go about your business doing the right things and que sera sera.
