i do not know if it is worse at this time of year, or if it is just more noticeable.
Everyone is walking around with a (possibly false) smile on, and woohoo the holidays!!
and there is a misplaced sense of the necessity for cheer and light heartedness...
and not everyone celebrates
and not everyone is as happy as their Christmas card photo appears - those perfect families are often FAR from it, but they get sent, thus further raising the expectation of family & frivolity.

I think, for me, yes, it is winter (no sun, cold, family not as nuclear & close as the Waltons) does not so much make the depression/anxiety worse, it does, however, bring it into stark comparison.
