I do not want to read "The Great Gatsby" because it was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
It has been my experience not to trust people that use that name form such as: E. Roe "last Name", L. Duane "Last Name", and most of all, E. Gordon Liddy!

I'm praying this is supposed to be funny . . . and it's "G. Gordon Liddy"; possibly you were thinking of "E. Howard Hunt". In any case I wasn't aware one had to "trust" a fiction author.
I assume you have also skipped W. Somerset Maugham, E. Annie Proulx, C. Vann Woodward, N. Scott Momaday. How do you feel about two-initial authors -- E.M. Forster, T.S. Eliot, J.D. Salinger, J.P. Donleavy, E.B. White, E.L. Doctorow, A.S. Byatt, A.A. Milne, C.S. Lewis, V.S. Naipaul, P.G. Wodehouse? Are they also untrustworthy? By hiding both names I would think they are even more devious than those one-initial folks. Or what about H.D.? Talk about untrustworthy! And what of J.R.R. Tolkien, M.F.K. Fisher and W.E.B. DuBois? Those duplicitous swine!
UsuallyReasonable (who does go by his middle name, but does not use the "X. Middle Last" formulation)
