I don't know why they got fancy and used the nose tube into the stomach. The stomach is acidic specifically to kill bacteria. Using an enema in the correct orifice assures the correct pH and low-oxygen environment for colonic bacteria.

The other stories I've seen on this today runs the tube through the stomach into the small intestine. Your procedure puts the feces in the large intestine. Since I'm not a doctor, I'm not going to say which procedure is more effective.
