I don't see much in common between FTE and UPCOY. FTE is many times the size of UPCOY. I gather FTE is the incumbent French telephone monopoly -- the sort of company whose lunch UPCOY intends to eat. On the other hand FTE is a very large, very sound institution and UPCOY is a hodge podge of cast-offs run by american-style hustlers. Now I don't know if these descriptions are accurate. They're just my humble guesses. My money's on UPCOY. Today UPCOY announced purchase of a subsidiary with 590,000 dutch cable subscribers, the Netherlands already being UPCOY's largest market. That may be the reason for its pop, or any of the other recent mergers and financings. As for FTE, I doubt anything UPCOY could or would do would have much effect on FTE right now, but stay tuned.
