I don't use the 880, I use a previous model, but I expect it's similar...

(1) Does it have a "go to bed and save electricity mode" where it turns off everything that can be turned off?

That's the OFF button. Turns everything off.

(2) Would there be any way (sanctioned or creative) to have it control two setups (like in the living room, where I have DVD/TV/CD's etc.) and the media room (similar deal plus projector etc.)? Or does one pretty much have to shell out for two of these babies?

If you wanted to carry it from room to room, you would just define activities for each room. And each activity would use just the equipment in that room.

The trick with a Harmony is that you think of "Activities", and their website code sets up each of the units you use for that activity appropriately.
