I ducked Lightroom, since I have iPhoto, Aperture would be a step up, but also with PS, don't see the need... I rarely use iPhoto for more than a handy indexing, storage setup, try to keep multiple libraries, semi-sorting out family events, trips, home projects, it helps me find pics, not perfect, but beats renaming everything... Kodak EasyShare could do it, too, but now we've lost that resource, so far Shutterfly hasnt adopted it.. Many basic tools available, but mine come back to Photoshop for the initial crop, perking if needed, then Sharing via the website de jour, then load into iPhoto, for email shares or FB, etc.. The originals I thin drop into the Pictures folder... But they are in a folder or folders of their own, named, dated mmddyy, so it helps.. Picasa is normally running, sometimes handy to find faces, but I'm way way behind... I haven't been using their site, only the app... price is right...
