I guess this answers the whole thousand dollar deductible question.....

Yep. I actually called at 6:45 this morning (before leaving the house) and changed the deductible to $500. Then after the accident, I found out that it technically doesn't go into effect until 12:01am, so it's still $1000. But it's looking very much like i won't have to pay one.

Oh yea, and I've been informed that there's a VERY good chance that it's totaled, in which case my GAP protection will cover any deductible I have to pay as well as the remainder of the loan.
