I guess your idea of "simple" are products that have a long ingredient list, come from 20th century factories, and aren't easy to replicate by the home cook - in the case of Twinkies and Velvetta. To me, that's complicated compared to pastery and cheeses that can be handmade and were long before the industrial revolution.Ditto. My chocolate cake is simple. About 6 ingredients and can be made in 1 bowl and 1 pan. A twinkie or ho-ho has a list of ingredients & chemicals as long as my arm that are in it, and is made using heavy-duty machinery, packaged, shipped, distributed, and trucked to my corner store to be sold.You may or may not like them - that's a matter of taste. But "simple" they are not.
