I had a somewhat similar situation.

We were in Home Depot getting everything we needed to construct a new deck, i noticed that HD had an offer whereby if you opened one of their charge accounts they would give you a percentage (i can't remember the figure) off your first purchase.

So we picked-up/ordered about $2000 worth of timber and applied for an account, which was accepted with a credit line of $300 :-(

Never one to be beaten i split up our order and charged as much as i could to the new card, the balance went on another.

Within 2-3 months my credit line with HD was raised to $4000-ish.

Vlad.

FYI : This account is now firmly closed.
