I have a very strong prescription, and I wear my glasses almost every day, so I really need the high index lenses, which cost a fortune almost everywhere. I went to my Costco optical shop, and got a very nice, stylish pair of glasses with super high index lenses, anti-glare, edges rolled and polished to look thinner -- all for 1/2 of what LensCrafters would have charged (even after coupons, AAA, etc.).

I ordered the glasses on a Saturday, picked them up the next Sunday. They look great, feel great, and were really well-priced. Plus, I got reimbursed for them with pre-tax dollars from my medical flexible savings account, so that's like getting an additional discount!

You won't get the hand-holding and super service, but I can see.
