I have been retired for about 7 years. Every morning I wake up with nothing to do. At bedtime I realize that I only finished only half of what I wanted to do.
I think that attitudes toward retirement will be different for different people. Personally, I had no trouble adjusting to retirement. Initially I thought that I might want to pursue some part time work, but, soon decided I didn't need or want it, and I don't find myself bored or restless. I am probably getting more exercise now and have developed some new friendships and volunteer activities that keep me more than satisfied and mentally challenged.
If you question whether you will adjust perhaps you should consider easeing into it with part time or consulting work that you might develop before you retire.
