I have heard of a couple of hockey players that were charged with crimes when they went too far.

Jose Offerman was charged with assualt when he went after another player with a bat. Though that was in the minor leagues.

Then there was the brawl between the Pacer and the Pistons a few years ago, but it's possible that the only reason charges were filed in that case was because Ron Artest went into the stands. Had the fight stayed on the court, there might not have been any charges.

Generally speaking, though, prosecuters have been reluctant to file criminal charges for game violence.
