I have negative AGI this year,

And while we're dealing with the main issues of the excess IRA contribution, I'll point out a side issue.

I hope this is a Roth IRA. If you're doing a traditional IRA, I'd elect to make it a non-deductible contribution if I couldn't get it into a Roth. The worst thing you could have is a deductible IRA that is providing you no tax reduction now, and becomes taxable income when you withdraw it in the future.
