I have no idea what did it, but alll the holiday foods left me in what used to be my normal state -- bloated, tired, and in pain. It's good that it only took a few days of better eating to get back to feeling good.

I noticed a similar phenomenon after losing control and eating like what used to be normal at Christmas dinner. The next couple of days I had little energy, and only habit and determination got me through my normal exercise routine. Then after a couple days of eating like my current normal, everything was fine.

That, and getting some extra sleep. I don't know whether my body needed the sleep to process the holiday eating excess, to repair the effects of exercise, or a bit of both. I know I haven't really been sick this season (knock wood).

Feeling pretty good today, after a week of normal eating. Ran a 7.5 mile race this morning, good for bragging rights about cold, wind, and blowing snow. I was restrained with the post-race fare, that didn't look as healthy as at some races. Came home to a normal lunch, and I'm pretty sure that was the right thing to do.
