I haven't been able to get my federal taxes down to zero yet, but my older brother has done it for many years now. He lives in a several million dollar home on the ocean, but he pays no federal income tax. I can't figure it out, but then he's a retired MBA/CPA, and they can do most anything. I've gotten our federal taxes down by about 85% from where they were during the 2000 to 2010 time period, so that's been nice. I also get SS and Medicare, and that's nice too. On the other hand, Obama and the Dems need to be put on the trash heap of history as soon as possible.

Well as a single worker serf with no mortgage and no other deductions, I am more than making up for the lack of Federal Income taxes not being paid by you and Jim. Since I switched to a Roth 401K, the only tax break I get is a small foreign tax paid credit for my Vanguard Emerging Markets mutual fund. Not only do I pay a lot of Federal Taxes in my pay's withholding, I also have to mail in quarterly Federal estimated tax payments. I reckon that is a good problem to have, but I do feel sometimes that I'm Atlas.
