I haven't used it for a while, since I've been driving the same beater for a while now, but www.insurance.com lets you design your policy (limits, deductibles, etc) and will then return premiums from a load of insurers in your area to compare. My only problem with the site, useful though it is, is that the companies tend to start calling you moments after submitting your contact info, which is not optional. You don't (or at least didn't) have to enter anything more specific than email, thankfully.
