I heard that brookings had a micro climate and was similiar to Carmel in Calif.I've driven through Brookings several times as it was halfway between my sisters who lived in Bandon and Eureka for many years. It's off the beaten path and low-key, but you'd better be prepared to entertain yourself because "it's a long way to Tipperary" (or anywhere else) from there. The southern Oregon/far northern California coast is beautiful and has a fond place in my heart. But it's a stretch to compare it to Carmel, IMO. I would think it would have more rain and less sun than Carmel, unless it has a pretty unusual "microclimate" for that area. And it has far less amenities in the local area, if that's a consideration.Property values on the southern Oregon coast were low but rising fast in the late 80's/early 90's--not sure what's been happening since then.
