I interpreted really's post to mean:
1. rei is a decent cc, has not had any problem with them
2. They are offering $25 bonus
3. If you are looking for a new card, this is one to maybe look into
4. Don't apply for credit if you don't need it or can't handle it.
All plain, simple and informative. Then Fred jumps in with a snide remark.
Credit card companies are not the evil empire anymore than most companies. You just have to have personal responsibility and be on your toes when dealing with credit. That is what I think this board is for.

I have been lurking a lot on this board and am genuinly afraid of entering most discussions because of this type of bickering. It gets in the way of helping and constructive input.
