Hey y'all...I just stumbled across this board (hi Kaiti! how many boards do you follow anyway?)...probably because I've been hit with a few doozies lately!

A Friday or two ago I was out of town...and woke up entirely too early with excruciating pain in my head. Well, my preferred first line of defense for any uncomfortable situation is to sleep it off. That didn't help! I called my co-worker's room and got some ibuprofen from her, and once I got functional, let her drive to our destination. She suggested that I might need some caffeine; it works for her. So we stopped off at a store and I got a Dr Pepper (and a doughnut or something)...after about a half-hour I felt like a different person.

It's hard to say where my headaches come from--I really don't think I get them all too often, it seems like they're in spurts. At any given time I could probably attribute it to TMJ, my eyes, caffeine, sinuses, whatever.

Oh yeah, the point of my post. This morning, I'm at work (I was fine until I got here!) and I get this pain primarily behind my right eye, but also on the right side of my forehead. I'm a little congested (haven't taken any allergy meds in a few days, shame on me?), but the first thing I think of taking is ibuprofen. Didn't work. I ask for suggestions from co-workers, they give me sinus medication. I thought this might help, since I was feeling a tad stuffy.

Then the receptionist said I needed to go to 7-11. Seems that a few people in my department swear by Slurpees (especially cola-flavored) and saltines. Apparently it's not just the caffeine, but the very cold icy beverage that helps too. The saltines help quiet the nauseating feeling in the stomach.

So I went to 7-11 (like 20 blocks away) and got a large Pepsi-flavored and a large blue raspberry-flavored Slurpee and two packs of crackers (not saltines, I have to have cheese or PB with mine...). I don't know if it was the placebo effect, the meds finally kicking in, or what, but my headache's gone...

Hope this helps somebody! (BTW, I don't have any financial interests in any of the above products...)

Plaidy...they really need a store more convenient to downtown
