I just looked in the packet, and there are forms I've never even heard of -- let alone needed or used.

Schedule L: Standard Deduction for Certain Filers
Schedule M: Making Work Pay and Government Retiree Credits

Ummm, nope. Not applicable.

~~ Alison, still amused

Schedule M is new as a result of the tax credit put into effect last year. (Remember when the withholding tables were adjusted and everyone's paycheck went up a few dollars?) If you had earned income last year, you need to complete it to ensure you receive your applicable tax credit. Otherwise, you will find that you underwithheld for the year.
