I know next to nothing about TurboTax, so take all of this with a big grain of salt.

TT can't split the long and short term items out if you don't tell it about them. So if you're not giving it information about each purchase from a dividend reinvestment, it probably doesn't have the information to do the LT/ST calculation for you.

Here's where my ignorance comes in. If you can't put that info in, you'll have to do the LT/ST calculations yourself. I don't know if there is such a place or not.
