I know people who consider their CAR an asset. Not too hard to see why most folks consider their house an asset, too.

Well, they BOTH are assets, unless you are using a creative meaning for the term.

I list both as an asset on my balance sheet; though I'm sensible enough to realize that a car is a depreciating asset... and choose what I drive accordingly.

Still... the point it the same... financial thinking is quite off. :(
