I left IBM in 1965. Back then one package we were plugging was IMPACT (Inventory Management Program and Control Techniques). IBM was not selling software, the idea was to give customers a reason to rent a computer or use Service Bureau time. I learned a lot of useful stuff from this product such as the 80/20 distribution.

I also got one customer to use linear regression to formulate animal feed. That was a Service Bureau job.
