I live in a big city and reside in an apartment building with more than 80 units. There are many people who have lived in the building for decades and they do not know each other...

I too live in Manhattan in a co-op building that has 50 units. I know pretty much everyone who lives in the building, with the exception of a couple of folks who are subleasing from the owners of various apartments.

Maybe it's because I've been here 30 years or because I sit on the Board and usually am on the committee interviewing prospective purchasers. I also go up to the roof garden a lot and chat with folks up there.

Then again, I chat with everybody!

There's the superintendent next door, the doorman up the block, the women who walks 3 little dogs, the woman who walks a BIG dog, the mail carrier, etc., etc.
