I looked at various plans out there and was puzzled by one very common part, the long slow run. I don't understand how running much slower than the goal pace would do much good, so I dropped this idea from my plan.

As a person who strives (or is it strides) desperately to hit a 10 min/mile pace there is just no comparing your running with my running. For me, the long slow runs are invaluable in just building my endurance and building muscle. I am the world's biggest weiner when it comes to athletics and I need to work really hard to increase aerobic capacity, increase muscle and build endurance.

Congrats to you for finding the plan that works but if I did what you do I would probably just get injured and never be able to run again.

jealous - but c'est la vie, non?
